The Ondo State Security Network Agency, Operation Amotekun, has announced the commencement of its recruitment. Chief Adetunji Olu-Adeleye, Amotekun Corps Commandant in the state, who made this known on Tuesday in Akure, said the recruitment form would attract no charges.

Ondo State Government has begun recruitment into its Security Network Agency, also known as the ‘Amotekun Corps’.

It however warned against selling of the forms to interested individuals.

Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Chief Adetunji Olu-Adeleye, who disclosed this at a press briefing said the forms are free for all eligible residents in the state.

Adeleye said the recruitment processes commenced following approval by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu

What is Amotekun Corps?

Amotekun is the Yoruba word for Leopard. The word “Amotekun” is referred to leopard. If you check the logo of the security network you will notice the inscription of leopard on it.
Amotekun seeks to complement the police: Amotekun won’t work in isolation rather it will work with other sisters security agencies like the police force, civil defence etc to fight crime.
Amotekun won’t be modelled after the Odua Peoples Congress (OPC) security outfit.most people have cited fear that Amotekun is a rebranded Odua Peoples Congress (OPC) but far from that this is purely a state backed network with approval of the states governors fully committed to the scheme.
