American University of Nigeria Recruitment 2024.
In collaboration with a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), the American University of Nigeria, Yola, is seeking for prospective candidates for the SENSE (Strengthening Education in North East) project funded by USAID. The position is a local position and is open to indigenous and/or legal residents of Nigeria.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at the American University of Nigeria (AUN)
Job Title: Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
Location: Adamawa
Department: Atiku Center (SENSE Project)
Nature of Employment: Project Assignment
Duration: Twenty (20) Months
Summary of Position
- The Senior M&E Officer will report to the Snr. M&E Specialist.
- They will be responsible for administering tools, collecting and entering the classroom and school data as well as to conduct basic analysis. They will also be responsible for supporting senior staff during workshops.
Position Requirements
- M.Sc in Mathematics / Statistics / ITC required with 3 years’ experience or B.Sc with 7 years’ experience
- M&E experience on an Education project
- Experience with managing large data sets
- Experience in M&E training for state and non-state partners
- Strong organizational and analytical skills and ability to work well under pressure and with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal and community mobilization skills.
- Excellent IT skills, (to be tested)
- Ability to use excel and similar software for extensive analysis and reporting (to be tested).

Human Resource Assistant at the American University of Nigeria (AUN)
Job Title: Human Resource Assistant
Location: Adamawa
Department: Atiku Center (SENSE Project)
Nature of Employment: Project Assignment
Duration: Twenty (20) Months
Summary of Position
- The HR Assistant is charged with the responsibility of assisting the senior HR Officer with project HR and administrative functions.
- The duties shall include but not limited to assisting in reviewing information received concerning position opening and contacts hiring official(s) in preparation for recruitment activities, assist in the development of job vacancy announcements, creates a project plan and liaises with University Offices and departments involved to coordinate and run benefits activities in accordance with the university’s policy and procedures.
Position Requirements
- B.Sc / B.A or HND in Human Resources, Public Admin or related Social Sciences fields.
- At least 2 years of work experience in the field of HR, preferably with a USAID or any donor-funded Project.
- Good oral and written English language skills.
- Excellent confidentiality, interpersonal and multitasking skills.
- Good computer skills (excel and word).

Counseling Psychologist at American University of Nigeria
Job Title: Counseling Psychologist
Location: Yola, Adamawa
Department: Student Affairs
Summary of Position
- The Counseling Psychologist, Student Affairs is charged with the responsibility of advocating and helping students achieve personal, social and emotional success. The duties shall include but not limited to individual counseling, group therapy, behavioral disorders, substance abuse disorders, youth and crisis counselling in accordance with established policies and procedures of the American University of Nigeria.
- University-age students face many new challenges, and the Counseling Psychologist is a vital support person for students as they navigate young adulthood. Some of these challenges include anxiety, which can relate to life and career decisions or relationship challenges with family, new friends, roommates, new romantic relationships, or understanding expectations of their professors. University students can also lapse into depression over grades or other stress related to university life, and this can lead to self-harm behaviors, drug or alcohol abuse, or trauma reactions. Some students develop eating disorders, or feel marginalized or bullied. As a development university, we provide the support necessary to help our students develop the skills necessary to manage all of these new challenges, and the counseling psychologist is on the frontline as a safety net and reassurance that we provide a safe environment for all students to succeed.
Position Requirements
- A Master’s degree in Psychology from a recognized University plus five years’ experience garnered as a Counseling Psychologist. Preference will be given to individuals with a strong clinical background.
- Experience of working in an academic environment is highly beneficial.
- Should possess strong organizational and student-relation skills.
- Should possess strong written and oral communications skills.
- Should be proficient in the use of Information and Communications Technology tools and e-resources.
Other Requirements, Abilities for the Position:
- Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems with students and staff alike.
- Ability to develop a work schedule, set goals, create and implement action plans and monitor progress towards goals.
- Skill in developing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Skill in typing/word processing and use of personal computer/software.
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in all assessments and evaluations.
Other Requirements, Abilities for the Position:
- Perform to earn the full confidence required of a Counseling professional.
- Assure discreet handling of all issues.
- Work collaboratively and cooperatively with others.
- Work under pressure.
- Possess great organization skills and planning.
