2025 Diversity Visa Program Registration Date (Green Card Lottery) : The US State Department has announced that the registration period for the 2025 Diversity Visa Program (DV-2025), popularly known as the Green Card Lottery, will begin on Wednesday, October 2nd, 2025 at 12pm EDT and end on Tuesday, November 5th, 2025 at 12pm EST.
A total of 55,000 permanent resident visas (green cards) will be available through this program.
The State Department reminds participants that there is no cost to register for the Diversity Visa program. Registration is done free online.
The Diversity Visa program provides permanent resident visas to nationals of countries with low immigration rates to the Unites States over the last five years.

Nigeria is one the eligible countries to participate in the program.
For DV-2025 the following countries are ineligible to apply because more than 50,000 of their nationals immigrated to the US in the last five years.
Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (mainland-born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam.
