Job description

  • The Facility Coordinator will work closely with the Facilities Manager to support all Terminal facilities maintenance activities and ensure that optimal working environment is provided within the terminal by providing full maintenance services as well as promoting safety conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • The key impact of these incumbents will be the maintenance of operational efficiencies in the terminal to ensure availability of all facility provision required for the execution of day to day operational activities.
  • Receive and execute instructions and decisions from the Facility Manager;
  • Ensures that the maintenance and repairs of terminal facility in a cost-effective manner, with consideration given to quality work and longevity of performed works.
  • Follows safety and health rules and regulations.
  • Assist in facility maintenance of a safe working environment;
  • Participate on Daily Safety Toolbox Talks with the teams
  • Understand and applies LOTO system for day-to-day assigned jobs
  • Assist the Facilities Manager in all aspects of the facility project implementation as needed
  • Provide and supervise maintenance and repair services for buildings, air condition systems, electrical systems, water distribution systems, water-proofing, sewage lines, drains of all buildings, yard pavement, drain cleaning, yard marking and painting, road repairs.

  • A candidate with University Degree in Civil Engineering / Electrical Engineering or in a relevant field and with specific technical knowledge in Building management and Facility and Maintenance operations.

MHC & RTG Electrical Technician at APM Terminals

Job Title: MHC & RTG Electrical Technician

Job Description

  • To repair, fault find and diagnose electrical and electronic faults on Mobile Harbor Cranes (MHC), Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG), Spreaders (SP) and other equipment in compliance with Code of Practice in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Ensuring optimum availability and reliability of equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • To carry out all maintenance repairs and modifications on MHC, RTG, SP and other plant and equipment in accordance with the requirements of the Code of Practice and the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Ensuring high standards are maintained.
  • To evaluate and analyse the nature, cause and perform the repairs of breakdowns. Determining the optimal way of dealing with the problem, to achieve a quality and cost-effective solution, as well as minimal downtime and maximum Operational availability of MHC, RTG, SP and other equipment.
  • Use sound knowledge of rigging procedures to recover equipment from quay and yard due to accidents as efficiently as possible, ensuring minimal delays to operations.
  • Have sufficient knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act. Enforce safe working procedures, for the purpose of safety of employees and people around you.
  • To carry out repairs to defects as per Examiners defect list.
  • To ensure safe working and minimize breakdowns to machinery and equipment.
  • Advise MHC & RTG Fore-man and or MHC & RTG Supervisor on concerns relating to unreliable equipment;
  • Perform other related functions required from time to time such as assistance with major emergency work;
  • Ensure adherence to established safety practices in the execution of assignments and in the use of tools, equipment and machinery.

  • Determine cause of failure of mechanical components of yard equipment & service machines.

Legal and Claims Manager at APM Terminals

Job Title: Legal and Claims Manager

Job Purpose

  • The purpose of this position is to advise terminal management on all issues relating to the legal & regulatory affairs within the local framework, & to handle all legal & regulatory issues that arise either directly or through the use of external legal firms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advises Management on all issues relating to local legislation in all areas & required regulatory requirements from various local bodies.
  • Attends as terminal representative at all hearings with relation to legal, regulatory or statutory matters either in court or with required local bodies.
  • Maintenance of a proper follow up system to ensure that legal issues are dealt with in a timely & effective fashion.
  • Supports the claims team in their handling of all Claims in relation with Shipping Lines, Consignees, Insurers, Surveyors and all Stakeholders in the Claims Process.
  • Maintains local contacts with specialist legal firm on all issues.
  • To keep company indemnified from acts, costs & consequences arising out of legal disputes by observing Government and Port Rules.
  • To work closely with Stakeholders (Nigerian Police, Customs, EFCC, Security Agencies, Consignees etc.) to minimize legal issues.
  • Drafting & checking standard legal documents such as board minutes, powers of attorney, concession agreements, etc. including official letters and correspondence pertaining to sensitive matters.
  • Ensuring all corporate filings with the Corporate Affairs Commission are up to date and maintain proper records of all corporate filings.
  • To maintain proper record of all documents in respect of land revenue, receipts and records.
  • Translation of all legal documents/notices where required.
  • Undertake research into case law to determine best course of action on legal issues.
  • Negotiations with lawyers and contractors for all contracts (user, service and engineering contracts).

Requirements
We are looking for:

  • Accredited legal qualification with 8 – 10 years’ experience in handling legal matters preferably in the port sector or in related industry.
  • Familiarization with local civil, criminal, commercial, real estate, torts, labour laws & practices.
  • Knowledge of local Anti-Corruption laws and practice including facilitation payments as well as relevant UK, US and OECD laws and regulations on anti-corruption.
