Second Place: Edo State’s Bright Spark

Aguele Stephen Oseruha, also showing immense academic prowess, scored 358 to earn the position of the second-best candidate in the 2023 UTME. He sat for the examination in his home state, Edo, and has applied to the University of Benin (UNIBEN) where he intends to study Computer Engineering.

A Tie for the Third Position

In a surprising turn of events, the third position was tightly contested and resulted in a tie. Ositade Oluwafemi Anthony from Ogun State, who also took the examination in Ogun State, managed to score an impressive 358, identical to the second-best score. Like Oseruha, Anthony is looking forward to studying Computer Engineering and has chosen the University of Lagos (UNILAG) as his preferred institution.

An Official Disclosure

The JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, made these disclosures during the 2023 Policy Meeting held in Abuja on Saturday. The meeting, which consisted of the heads of tertiary institutions in Nigeria, deliberated and decided on the criteria for the 2023 admission into all tertiary institutions.

Implication and Expectations

The excellent performances of these students set a high standard for this year’s admission process, and tertiary institutions across the country are expected to uphold these standards during admissions. The outcome of these top scores underscores the importance of hard work, diligence, and consistency in academic pursuits.

As we congratulate these top performers, we also encourage all students to continue striving for excellence in their academic journeys. These shining examples remind us all that with dedication and determination, great achievements are within reach.
